Left-Right Asymmetry

If a reconstructed image is perfectly correct, but in left-right reversed order of the ground truth, is it guaranteed to have a score of 1? It appears from the Evaluation description that the answer is “No”.

If the answer is “No”, what is the physical significance in dictating that a perfectly reconstructed but left-right reversed image is “wrong”? Wrong in what physical sense?

Hi @idyllicscenery

Mirrored images, or as you named, left-right reversed images, are accepted as correct since the data lacks context to describe orientation.

Kind regards,
Onward Team
