Machine Learning

Hi,
Could you define what is meant by the following line in the overview?

We will only be considering submissions that utilize machine learning approaches

How are you defining machine learning in this context?

Also, what about if part of the solution uses machine learning and part of the solution uses a rules based approach?

Thanks,

David

Hello @david

Thank you for your question.
In our context, machine learning (ML) refers to solutions that involve the development and training of models to learn from data. Solutions based purely on heuristic methods without ML/DL components, such as array operations or existing solvers, do not qualify. However, we do accept hybrid approaches that combine ML/DL with rule-based methods, provided there’s a significant ML/DL component in your solution.

We hope this answers your query. Feel free to reach out for further clarification.

Kind regards,
Onward Team
